What is the goal of Coaching?
Executive coaching as part of strategic implementation is quickly becoming
a best people practice. The goal of coaching is for executives to chart
a development action plan tailored to their unique position. The coaching
session ensures that the executive invests time to align themselves with
their position’s mission, to overcome obstacles inhibiting achievement
of this mission, and to set priorities to maximize positive outcomes.
What are the phases of Coaching?
Assessment Phase: The position mission and obstacles are clearly identified.
Implementation Phase: The executive and coach then work together to create
an evolving action plan to eliminate the barriers inhibiting success.
The executive focuses on agreed upon action items between coaching sessions.
Positive, constructive and candid discussion serves as a catalyst to implement
changes that lead to professional and personal satisfaction.
Reinforcement Phase: While behavior can change quickly, it is more difficult
to sustain change. As executives receive ongoing follow-up to ensure that
they remain on track, long-lasting alignment with goals will be more certain.
